The Sustainable Resources Verification Scheme GmbH is an association of two strong market leaders who want to face the challenge of creating an independent and verifiable verification system for the sustainable use of solid biomass and biogas for the production of energy; contributing to their individual strengths and competences:
Bioenergy Europe is the voice of European bioenergy with members from more than 40 countries. Bioenergy Europe has already advocated binding sustainability criteria for the production of electricity and heat from biomass out of the industry's own responsibility in the initiating political discussions surrounding RED II.
Within the SURE-System, Bioenergy Europe's pan-European network of experts makes a significant contribution to capacity building in the sector, investigating practical questions on the implementation of RED II with economic operators; whilst reflecting on market experience in SURE committees.
The REDcert Gesellschaft zur Zertifizierung nachhaltig erzeugten Biomasse mbH was founded in 2010 to demonstrate the sustainability of biofuels and liquid bioenergy sources within the framework of the first Renewable Energy Directive 2009/28/EC. With more than 1,300 system participants in 25 countries allows REDcert to be one of the world's leading certification systems for biofuels and liquid bioenergy sources.
In the SURE-System, REDcert contributes its expertise to an EU-approved certification system and its many years of experience with objective, reliable and transparent verification processes.
Both Bioenergy Europe and REDcert form the shareholders' assembly of SURE and decide on operational issues of the system.
