New NUTS-2 Values for Poland
Within the framework of SURE-EU, self-declarations from Polish companies based on the new, provisionally approved NUTS-2 values for rapeseed and maize are now also accepted.
The previous NUTS-2 values developed under RED I are no longer valid. At the request of the European Commission, Poland has submitted new typical greenhouse gas (GHG) emission values for rapeseed and maize cultivation in accordance with the Renewable Energy Directive (RED). These have already been positively assessed by the Commission – a first step towards legal recognition under Article 31(2) to (4) of Directive (EU) 2018/2001 (see European Commission – Biofuels).
The Polish Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development announced on its website https://www.gov.pl/web/rolnictwo) that it is provisionally recognizing the GHG emission values determined on the basis of the aforementioned report until the European Commission adopts the corresponding implementing act pursuant to Article 31(4) of the RED II Framework Programme.
This means: The submitted NUTS2 values are currently valid in Poland, and the calculated greenhouse gas emissions can be used at the national level until final EU recognition.
For biomass for which no NUTS2 values have yet been submitted, the procedure already communicated continues to apply.. The positively assessed NUTS2 values for Poland can be found here.
