FLIK Search Enhancements
We are pleased to announce that the FLIK search has been expanded and enhanced with new features::
We have now added status information for the FLIK in Baden-Württemberg, which was kindly provided to us by the relevant ministry. .
When selecting a FLIK, the corresponding NUTS2 region is now also displayed in the info window, allowing users to quickly determine which NUTS2 value must be applied for biomass.
For NUTS2 regions where not only mineral but also organic soils must be taken into account, it is now possible to select the “Organic Soils” layer to display the Thünen Institute’s current peatland map, which highlights areas with organic soils. This allows the producer to document for each individual FLIK which soil type—mineral and/or organic—is present on their land. We had already pointed out the possibility of a flat-rate calculation of biomass from organic soils..
As part of the expansion, the color scheme for displaying a FLIK has also been changed::
- blue indicates unrestricted usability (= “arable land” status as of January 1, 2008)
- red indicates areas not approved for sustainable biomass cultivation (e.g., specialty crops)
- orange indicates areas that may be used for biomass cultivation subject to additional requirements or documentation (e.g., grassland plowed after January 1, 2008, that is not of high ecological quality, for which a land-use change must be accounted for in the greenhouse gas balance)
If you have any questions or suggestions regarding the features of the FLIK search, please feel free to email us at support@flik-suche.de.
